Caring for your bedding. Make it last much longer!

We all want to prolong the feeling of trying and feeling a product for the first time. We want it to last in that same state forever. It is not a difficult task if you treat each garment with care and above all following the instructions on its labels. In this article we show you some #TIPS that you can follow to take care of your bedding and make it last much longer.

1 . BED SHEETS:

It is advisable to use warm or cold water, since heat could cause the fibers that make it up to break and give it all the benefits such as softness, shine and ease of ironing. Choose a detergent for delicate clothes and avoid using bleach and fabric softeners as their chemicals will damage the garment.

IRONING TIP:

For more efficient and effective ironing, have a water sprayer on hand and start spreading the water on the areas that have the most wrinkles. You will see how the heat of the iron on the wet area will allow the sheets to straighten better and faster. Remember to do it at maximum temperature and in the cotton option.

FITTED SHEET FOLDING TIP:

We know that folding and storing sheets can be a headache, especially fitted sheets (the ones that attach to the mattress). However, we leave you here an infographic where we show you how in 4 simple steps you can achieve the ideal fold, save space and most importantly, ensure that the sheets do not wrinkle, Marie Kondo would be very proud of you.

2. QUILT:

Don't forget to check and read the product label carefully. You can wash the down comforter 1 to 2 times a year. Doing it more frequently will damage the feather content which will cause it to lose its warmth. We recommend you take the product to a professional laundry. But if you decide to do it at home we leave you these tips:

  • If the duvet has a specific stain, you must first wash the affected area. How? Use a mild liquid laundry soap and a little warm water. Start scrubbing the area with your hands or a soft-bristled brush. Repeat this procedure until you see the stain starting to disappear. Then, take the comforter to the washing machine to finish and wash it completely.
  • Before putting the duvet in the washing machine, check its capacity. Select the Delicates wash and spin cycle option. This will reduce a large percentage of humidity in the garment. Use a mild detergent, no bleach or fabric softener. We recommend that you pay attention when washing since the duvet, being a large volume product, can generate an unbalanced load in the washing machine and will cause the drum to lose control. The washing machine will generate noises and sudden movements, but it will also not fulfill its washing or squeezing function. If this happens, pause the wash and rearrange the duvet. We leave you here an interesting article on the use of washing machines and how to get the most out of them.

  • To dry, select the delicate cycle and warm air in the dryer. Check that the feathers are even and not matted. One trick is to place a tennis ball inside the dryer to allow the comforter feathers to distribute evenly.

3. COTTON PAJAMAS:

You must treat this garment with great care. Like cotton sheets, they are made from natural fibers and may show some shrinkage after the first wash. We recommend washing it with cold water, mild detergent and washing it with clothes of similar colors. Remember not to dry it in the dryer. The dryer emits a large amount of heat which generates a lot of pressure on the fibers and as a consequence they end up shrinking. Dry your pajamas in the shade and when using the iron, do so at medium-high temperature.
